Look at this cool banner that the Montreal Canadiens put up as a tribute to the Expos. That is so cool that I actually got a little misty when I first saw it. It's a permanent tribute to my beloved 'Spos. I miss them. I tried to get on the Nationals love train, but it's just not the same. My team is gone. But what a great idea for the Canadiens to give the Expos a banner. Andre Dawson and Gary Carter were there for the ceremony. So very bitchin'! I am also just a little misty over the fact that the Habs picked up Youppi!, the Expos' mascott as a free agent and gave him a new home. Good for them. Youppi! was such a bizarre, dopey looking mascot but I always liked him for some reason. It's nice that he still has a job.
You know, I was still feeling a little bitter about the strike, but those clever Candiens' marketing people just sucked me back in. I mean, I was pretty much over it when I got to see the Canadiens first 2 games of the season on TV (Thanks DirecTV!) but now that little lingering bit-o-resentment is complete;y gone. What can I say? I'm a sucker for stuff like the Expos tribute. Go Habs! The Canadiens have started the season very strong. I think the new rules really help them a lot. I'm pumped. I'm feeling another Stanley Cup season. Woo!
