My Summer is officially CRAP! To make a long story short, I busted up my knee at the beep ball tournament last weekend. I was running to first and my knee just randomly bent backwards. There was a loud pop that was heard by the ump in the outfield. My rookie season is over. I didn't go to the ER this time because last time was a complete waste. They gave me crutches, told me to take Advil and charged me $3,000. Screw that. I still have the crutches so I'll save myself some cash this time thank you very much. So I've been home from work all week resting the leg and icing it down a lot. I just got back from my first visit to the Doc and so far the news isn't good. When I hyper-extended my knee, my femur (thigh bone) crashed down on my tibia (shin bone) and caused a fracture in the tibia. Cool huh! There's probably other stuff wrong too but I won't know for sure until after the MRI. I'm getting an MRI this afternoon and will get the results on Tuesday. The Doc said that I "should have" torn my ACL, but when she examined it, she couldn't tell that it had snapped. She says there's a slight possibility that because I am a freak of nature that I may have hyper-extended the knee without tearing the ACL and in her words, "That would be freaky." So, I'm injured again but on the bright side, it is fun to freak out doctors with my super stretchy joints.
Randy and I were supposed to go to the lake this weekend but the doctor said hell no so that's off for me. I told Randy to go without me. He doesn't seem too sure about doing that. He says it doesn't seem right. But the way I see it, there's no reason for Randy's Summer to get ruined too. There's a good chance I won't be able to go to the lake anymore this Summer. Randy shouldn't miss out on something he enjoys so much just because I can't go. He loves going to the lake so much that it would really hurt me to see him miss out on that because of me. I'm fine. I'll crash with Mom and Dad while he's gone so they can help me out when necessary. I'll be in good hands and I'll still have fun so I don't see that it's a big deal. I hope he goes and has a good time. I don't want to see him be miserable all Summer. He belongs at the lake.
In case you were wondering about it, the interview went fine. I didn't embarrass myself. I did an interview on the sports radio station too. Also fine. All the other media attention that was headed my way didn't happen because of my early exit from the tournament. I was hurt during our first game.
So that's my big news. I'll be updating my progress regularly since I have nothing better to do. I've been sitting on my ass since Saturday watching TV and it's starting to suck. I've been watching a lot of Star Trek reruns and way too many cartoons. I love Boomerang. They show all my favorite oldies. Yesterday I watched Yogi Bear, Pixie & Dixie and some other oldies. It was awesome. I also discovered that Boomerang shows "2 Stupid Dogs". Those dogs crack me up. I need to have the Tivo find me some "Johnny Bravo" reruns. I loved that show too. Surely it's still on somewhere. Anyway, I'm going to shut up now because it's really lame that I'm 31 years old and I've been spending my days watching cartoons. You'd think I could find something more constructive to do with my time off from work. Later.
