I went to the Redhawks game last night. It was the smallest, most pathetic crowd I have ever seen at a game. This is no exaggeration. There were between 100 and 200 people at the game. It was a little cold last night, in the 40's with a strong North wind. I guess the cold and the NCAA Title game kept people at home. It was a sad sight but great fun for those of us who braved the cold. Nights like that are perfect conditions for heckling. Everyone in the park can hear what's said. We heckled the umps, players and even the mascot. I was giving Rowdy the Redhawk so much hell, I ended up having my hat stolen and sunflower seeds thrown at me. It was sweet.

Dad took his portable TV to the game to keep track of the basketball game. Since TU wasn't playing, I didn't really care about it much. But the players and Umps seemed interested. We became the official score update service for the Omaha Royals dugout and the home plate umpire. A dude that was contributing to the heckling even bribed the ump into giving him a ball in exchange for the score. It was a blast.

I don't like Syracuse or Kansas, but I guess I hate Kansas less. I would've rather seen them win. But, on the bright side, it is cool how Syracuse knocked off 4 Big 12 teams en route to the championship. The Big 12 was Syracuse's bitch. Now when some lame ass Big 12 fan starts blathering on to me about how the Big 12 is the best conference, I need simply reply "Syracuse." They definitely made the best of the Big 12 look like chumps.

Oh yeah, I guess I should mention that the Hawks won again last night. They tied up the game in the bottom of the ninth, then won it in the 11th. That midget shortstop that I like earned himself even more respect in my eyes last night. Now, just to reiterate, he's the smallest guy on the field... Well, last night he came charging down the third base line for a play at the plate. He lowered his shoulder, put up a forearm and knocked Omaha's catcher flat on his ass to score the run. It was sweet. A lot of guys would have just tried to slide in, but this little guy went barreling into home like a runnaway beer truck. I love it. I just hope he wasn't hurt. He came out of the game the next inning and I haven't yet checked to see if he's OK. So, it's offical. Donnie Sadler, the midget shortstop has earned the AudreysAudities.com stamp of approval. He is my Redhawk of choice this season. Go kick some ass you little runnaway beer truck!

Guess that's all for now. I can't decide if I'm going to the game tonight. It's supposed to be colder than last night. I hate to freeze my ass off, but it sure is fun to heckle and collect baseballs at will when there's nobody at the yard. It's a tough call. I think I'll probably go. Later.
